The Museum of Occupation and Genocide Victims was founded in 1992 and is located in the same building that housed the Soviet security services, widely recognized as the KGB, from the latter half of 1940 until August 1991. This site holds profound significance for the Lithuanian people and vibrantly symbolizes the impactful 50-year Soviet occupation. The museum passionately aims to inspire both current and future generations about the challenging and tragic periods endured by the Lithuanian nation.
